Ryan & Patricia

Ryan and Patricia were married just this past September, when St. Clair Shores was still held firmly in summer’s embrace.  The air was warm and the sun was shining, reflecting with diamond-like intensity off the waters of Lake St. Clair.  It was the perfect setting & the perfect day for a wedding celebration.

I am old friends with Ryan’s brother, Aaron.  In fact, I used to photograph Aaron’s band years ago (back in the days when I shot a lot of band gigs—now weddings are what really drives me as a photographer!).  So it was music to my ears when Ryan contacted me about his impending nuptials to Patricia.  We met, and I knew immediately that these two were my kind of people.  They were so easy going and fun loving, and not to mention madly in love.  And did I mention Ryan’s awesome beard?   I couldn’t wait to photograph their day!

Patricia was a sweet and completely gorgeous bride.  Her wedding dress was elegant with a full, airy skirt and chestnut hair swept up in an artfully messy updo.  For something borrowed, Patricia carried a vintage handbag from her late grandmother, and a beautiful blue ring from Dad for something blue.  Ryan dressed in a smart gray suit, as were his groomsmen.   The bridesmaids wore pewter, for wedding portraits that were understated and chic.

First look portraits turned out beautifully at Veteran’s Memorial Park in St. Clair Shores, on the shore of Lake St. Clair, just blocks from Patricia’s childhood home.  The ceremony took place with a nod to Ryan’s heritage at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church.

And because everything’s just a little better when it’s Italian, the party took place at the Italian American Cultural Center.  Benessimo!  An easel-held tree guestbook stood at the door of the reception, handmade by Patricia’s dad—such a special touch.   The couple changed out of their fancy shoes into comfy Chuck Taylors (because who wants to dance the night away in heels?). Ryan had a really cool cigar “bar”, something I’d never seen before, but it was such a brilliant idea!   Night fell, the music pulsed, and this love story moves to its next chapter.  Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your day, Ryan and Patricia!

Jesse is an amazing photographer. I can honestly say that I'm so glad that we chose him over anyone else that we had inquired with. We recently got our photos back from him and they are just stunning. He does amazing work. I am so proud of the photos and can't wait to show everyone. On our wedding day, he came to my parents house to photograph the girls. Every single one of my bridesmaids raved about him. My parents too. One of my single bridesmaids (on the verge of engagement) said that when she is planning her wedding she wants to use him too. He's so outgoing, and makes you feel really comfortable... Read More
