David & Taylor
It was summertime in Northern Michigan. More than a Kid Rock song, this is a love story set in Traverse City of two very special people – Taylor and David. These two are more than clients; they are friends. I traversed the same high school corridors with Taylor, sharing some of the most awkward years of our lives. Now, after shooting Taylor’s sister Amanda’s wedding in 2014, I was getting to document Taylor and David’s special day.
Taylor brought my wife and I up to Traverse City, and treated us like part of the family. We even got home-baked cookies at the engagement shoot. Yes, the best way to your photographer’s heart is through his stomach!
The wedding took place at The Peninsula Room in Traverse City, a quietly elegant venue set amongst lush park and views of the expanse of the sparkling Grand Traverse Bay.
The bride looked elegant in an airy pink dress and the groom donned a dapper suit in steely blue with a simple and stylish boutonniere. Glamour in the form of hair and makeup was compliments of Grand Traverse Resort, and the the bride’s bouquet was supplied by her friend, and mine – Jenn Guido. The bridesmaids’ flowers and the décor were all designed by the couple themselves.
The wedding day graced us with sunny skies, and the ceremony was full of emotion. I felt honored to photograph these wonderful memories for Taylor and David. Family and friends had so much fun, and they celebrated into the wee hours.
I had such a great time being a part of this day, and just loved Northern Michigan. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the fall, surrounded by the fall colors. I can’t wait to come back.
