John & Katrina

Not a lot of couples are brave enough to have a winter wedding, but John & Katrina squeezed theirs right before I left for a month long trip to England. Shortly after their wedding, they headed to Hawaii. But not for their honeymoon…they’re MOVING there.

This was my first wedding of the year but last wedding of the season (if that makes sense), and hopefully a hint at what 2016 will be like. In 2014 I photographed 12 weddings, but jumped up to 41 in 2015! I’ve met some amazing couples, photographed some incredible weddings, and documented so many unforgettable moments. John & Katrina’s wedding was the perfect way to cap off the season!

The couple, before moving to Hawaii, lived and loved in Clarkston. It was important for Katrina to celebrate their wedding in the city as well. They opted for a “first look” at the downtown Depot Park which allowed for plenty of time for great photos. The church used for their ceremony was simple, sleek, and spacious, and was tastefully decorated to a T. For the reception, John & Katrina invited their closest friends and family to eat, drink, and be merry at Oakhurst Golf & Country Club. The tall ceilings and windows give the main room an open feel, and the table details, cake, and other directions were beautifully executed.

The one thing that really made me love Katrina & John was Katrina’s perfect planning. There was lots of time for pictures, but also breaks set aside for warming up, eating snacks, and touch-ups. Between her vendor and venue choice, handmade decor, and near-perfect schedule, she had it down. This girl needs to go into the business!

As always, I loved working with my videographer friend Jess Ciaramitaro. If you’re looking for someone to film your wedding, contact her!
